Film Stars To Gather Funds

The film industry is reportedly planning to come up with a programme or a cricket match to organise funds for the flood victims. Never has been such floods at this magnitude.

The film stars are supposed to have met today to discuss the further course of action. Balakrishna is taking special interest to bring the people together for this purpose.

Balakrishna From Hindupur

Official and confirmed actor-turned-politician Balakrishna would contest the polls from the Hindupur constituency in Anantapur district, incidentally this is the same constituency his legendry father the great NTR also fought his first election.

It was only natural that Balakrishna would contest from here as in many ways he was always considered not only the apt acting heir but also the legitimate political heir to NTR.

Though it takes no great political acumen to realize that Balakrishna would eventually win this one, one hopes that he would make a good parliamentarian and contributes to the might of the state and his party TDP.

Balakrishna interacts with farmers

ONGOLE: TDP star campaigner Nandamuri Balakrishna Sunday took time off the roadshow in Prakasam district to meet farmers of Bengalgram and gave a patient hearing to their grievences.

Balakrishna started his roadshow from the Tangutur mandal and met the farmers of blackgram at Srareddipalem. The farmers explained to him about their grievences.

Over 1 lakh hectares of blackgram was affected due to torrential rains in Feb, 2008, leading to a loss of Rs 350 crore to blackgram farmers out of the total crop loss of Rs 500 crore.

The Government failed to keep its promise to offer compensation to them.

Balakrsihna, responding to the farmers’ grievences, promised them that if TDP was voted to power, it would pay compensation besides creating a favourable market for them as soon as possible.

Moving over to the VANPIC-affected areas of Kothapatnam, he said that while the TDP Government had planned to make Vadarevu, Kothapatnam and other places from Ichchapuram to Tada tourist places, the Cong res s Gover nment was conspiring to rob fishermen of their livelihood.

He alleged that the compensation being given to their lands was very nominal and said that the R&R package was yet to be finalised leave alone its implementation.

He said it was for the people to decide whether they should vote for TDP or Congress.

He described the current contest between TDP and the Congress as a fight between justice and injustice.

He blamed the Government for not implementing the scheme of giving Rs 700 per month per fisherman besides giving away 100 kg of rice during the fishing ban while it was sincerely implementing the ban on fishing for 45 days.

Balakrishna also toured the Ongole Rural and Ongole town areas where the response from people was considerably good.
