అసలే రాజు గారు.. పాలన కూడా బాగుంటుందని ఆశించారు.. అత్యధిక ఓట్లతో గెలిపించారు.. ఒక మాజి ముఖ్యమంత్రి పుత్రుడు(మాజే యం.పి) కావడంతో కష్టాలు తీరుతాయని ఆశించారు.. గిరిజన గూడల్లో వెలుగులు ప్రసరిస్తాయని, సౌకర్యాలు కలుగుతాయని భావించారు. ఐదేళ్లు గడిచిపోయాయి. కనీస సదుపాయాలను పక్కన పెడితే కనీసం విద్యుత్ సౌకర్యం కూడా కల్పించలేకపోయారు. ఇప్పటికీ చీకటే రాజ్యమేలుతోంది.

పులివెందుల, న్యూస్‌లైన్: ఐటీడీఏ ఆధ్వర్యంలో కోట్లాది రూపాయలు ఖర్చు చేసి గిరిజన గూడలకు సౌకర్యాలు కల్పిస్తున్నామని, గిరిజనుల సమగ్రాభివృద్ధికి పాటుపడుతున్నామంటూ పాలకులు, అధికారులు గొప్పలు చెప్పుకొస్తున్నా పరిస్థితి పూర్తి భిన్నం. వారి గూడలకు వెళ్లి చూస్తే సమస్యలే సాక్షాత్కరిస్తాయి. రాష్ట్ర ఒక మాజి ముఖ్యమంత్రి పుత్రుడు(మాజే యం.పి) సొంత నియోజవర్గం పరిధి పులివెందుల లో విద్యుత్  సదుపాయానికి నోచుకోలేదంటే పరిస్థితి అర్ధం చేసుకోవచ్చు. రాజుగారి పాలన ఎంత మేరకు సాగించారో అవగత మవుతుంది.  

దీనికోసం రచ్చబండ, గ్రీవెన్స్, గిరిజన దర్బార్‌లలో వందల సార్లు ఫిర్యాదు చేసినా పట్టించుకునే నాధుడే కరువయ్యారు. దీంతో సుమారు 250 మంది గిరిజనులు చీకటిలోనే కాలం గడుపుతున్నారు. పొద్దుపోతే విష సర్పాలు, అటవీ జంతువుల భయంతో జీవనం సాగిస్తున్నారు. చదువులు సాగక విద్యార్థులు అవస్థలు పడుతున్నారు. పలు పంచాయతీల పరిధిలోని పలు గిరిజన గ్రామాలకు రహదారి సౌకర్యం లేదు.

పొలం గట్లే ఈ గ్రామాల ప్రజలకు రోడ్లు. చాలా గ్రామాల్లో పాఠశాలలకు భవనాలు లేవు. మినీ అంగన్‌వాడీ కేంద్రాలు మంజూరు  చేయక పోవడంతో గిరిజన పిల్లలు చదువులకు, పౌష్టికాహారానికి నోచుకోలేదు. తాగునీటికి కటకటే. బోర్లు లేకపోవడంతో కొండ ధారతోనే దాహం తీర్చుకుంటున్నారు. కనీస సదుపాయాలు కల్పించని యువరాజు... పదవికోసం మళ్లీ పోటీచేస్తున్నారని తెలుసుకున్న గిరిజనులు ఆగ్రహం వ్యక్తంచేస్తున్నారు. ఆయన పాలనకు స్వస్తి పలికి స్థానిక సమస్యలు తెలిసిన స్థానిక నాయకుడిని ఎన్నుకునేందుకు సిద్ధమవుతున్నారు.  

YS Jagan needs to understand Statistics

The YSR Congress Party leader Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy who came out with their Manifesto yesterday went off on a tirade against TDP leader by saying that development was better during the YSR regime. Talking about statistics he said that it was in his father’s time that AP had seen a surge of development in the field of IT , but for the fact that it was during Naidu’s time the whole concept of IT was developed and implemented. The number of jobs generated in the IT field were more than Naidu’s time.

But if the promotion of the field of IT was spearheaded by Mr. Naidu than how can the Congress take credit for it. When the TDP was in power between 1994 and 2004 and YSR regime which was only between 2004 and 2009 - these figures cannot be compared as the development phase had started then and if we remember correctly India witnessed the Great Recession phase where many people lost their jobs and would Y S Jagan be willing to give the credit to his father for that?

TDP may field candidate

HYDERABAD: Telugu Desam Party president N Chandrababu Naidu called for a meeting with Kadapa district leaders tomorrow to discuss party’s strategy to be adopted for Pulivendula byelections.

Though the TDP initially thought of not fielding its candidate in Pulivendula, but later changed its mind.

“Naidu called for a meeting of Kadapa leaders tomorrow to elicit the opinions of district leaders. The party Politburo will take a decision later whether to contest or not,’’ a TDP senior leader said.According to party insiders, TDP will field its candidate in the Pulivendula byelections and use it an opportunity to expose the ‘misdeeds’ of YS Jagan Mohan Reddy.

TDP to use K’taka Cong report to expose OMC

HYDERABAD: The Telugu Desam plans to use the material prepared by its arch-rival, the Congress, to expose `illegal mining’ by the company owned by Karnataka Minister and BJP leader Gali Janardhan Reddy.


A TDP delegation, which will meet Prime Minister Manmohan Singh soon, will present a booklet brought out by the Karnakata Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) on `illegal mining activities’ of Gali Janardhan Reddy.

KPCC’s `fact-finding’ report was published last year and the TDP is quoting from the book in support of its allegations against Janardhan Reddy, who is the Tourism Minister in the BJP Government in Karnataka.

Speaking to reporters here today, TDP leader Nagam Janardhan Reddy said that they would soon meet Chief Minister K Rosaiah and Prime Minister Manmohan Singh demanding immediate halt to the mining activity in Andhra Pradesh by the Obulapuram Mining Company (OMC) owned by Gali Janardhan Reddy. ``We will also present the KPCC report to the prime minister,’’ the TDP leader said.

Reddy said that his party had been fighting against the illegal mining by Gal i Janardhan Reddy for the last four years but the State Government issued notices only yesterday. ``Mere issuance of notices is not sufficient, the State Government should stop all the mining activities of OMC,’’ he demanded. He also urged the State Government to arrest the directorgeneral of mining for lending support to the illegal mining.

The TDP leader said that an expert committee should be constituted to fix the boundaries of OMC. He alleged that government’s advisor KVP Ramachandra Rao and YS Jagan Mohan Reddy abetted the illegal mining.

When the BJP leader was resorting to illegal activities, the Congress government supported him, he alleged.

Another TDP leader S Venugopala Chary demanded that the State Government impose a heavy penalty on Gali Janardhan Reddy and collect sales tax from him.

Jagan shoots from the lip

HYDERABAD: A day after meeting Congress president Sonia Gandhi in New Delhi and agreeing to leave the leadership issue in AP to her, Kadapa MP Y

S Jaganmohan Reddy — flanked by several cabinet ministers — on Friday targeted the Rosaiah regime. Vowing to fulfil the poll promises and projects envisioned by his father, the late CM Y S Rajasekhara Reddy, he accused the Rosaiah government of failing to implement even a single poll promise made by YSR.

Rosaiah’s cabinet colleagues who were in attendance at Jagan’s maiden press meet at the CM’s camp office while he took aim at the CM included home minister Sabita Indira Reddy, industries minister D K Aruna, IT minister Komitireddi Venkat Reddy, health minister D Nagender and education minister Manikya Varaprasad.

“Our beloved leader Rajasekhara Reddy promised to increase the Rs 2 kg rice quota for the poor from 24 kg to 30 kg every month. That has not been done. My father had promised to raise free power duration to farmers from 7 hrs to 9 hrs. That too is still to be done,” Jagan said.

Expressing unhappiness over Rosaiah’s functioning, Jagan said not only poll promises but even YSR’s development schemes were being neglected. “Let it be pension for the poor, houses or white ration cards, nothing has been done. White ration cards have been kept on hold on the grounds that a survey is on to weed out bogus cards. The survey itself is moving at a sluggish pace. Whether it is Rosaiah or anybody else nominated by the high command, I will continue to fight for the realisation of my father’s dreams,” he said.

On how he would rate the performance of the Rosaiah regime which marked 50 days on Friday, he said: “It is a controversial question. I do not want to comment.”

The Kadapa MP’s unhappiness with the high command was also on display. He first refused to grace the chair reserved for him in front of three portraits of Indira Gandhi, Rajiv Gandhi and Sonia, and then chose to address the media standing away from the portraits.

Sources close to Jagan said he intends to contest from YSR’s assembly constituency Pulivendula. “I am interested in state politics,” a source quoted him when he (Jagan) was asked about contensting from Pulivendula.

At the press meet, however, he said he had never expressed a desire to be CM but hastened to ask the media whether it was wrong for a son to aspire to fulfil a father’s dreams. “I am 36 years old. It is not my ambition to become CM by any means whatsoever. I will work hard, reach out to the people and the post would then come calling one day,” he said. He signed off by talking of his father’s ambition to ensure that Rahul Gandhi became the PM. “I will make sure that the Congress wins 41 Lok Sabha seats in the 2014 elections and Rahul becomes the PM,” he said.

Pranab to spot YSR’s heir

NEW DELHI: The Congress High Command has decided to send a three-member team led by Union Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee to Hyderabad to start the process of consultations with senior leaders and legislators to find a successor to late Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh Dr Y S Rajasekhara Reddy.
Sources said the team would reach Hyderabad on Thursday, a day after the seven-day mourning is over. The meeting of the Congress Legislature Party (CLP) would be convened after September 10 to elect a new leader.
The team would study the political situation and consult the party’s senior leaders before fixing a date for the CLP meeting.
“CLP decision would play a crucial role. But the high command’s decision is final. Andhra Pradesh is a special state. We are thinking a lot for YSR’s successor. The high command may take a final decision any day after September 12,” sources in the Congress said.
Meanwhile, supporters of YSR’s son Jaganmohan Reddy and those who are against him succeeding him, are camping in Delhi and lobbying for their leaders.
Among the Andhra Pradesh heavyweights present in the national capital are Union Minister Jaipal Reddy, MPs Kesava Rao, V Hanumantha Rao and Vundavilli Arun Kumar.
According to sources, the Congress high command is considering six names for the top post. The frontrunners include Jaganmohan, acting Chief Minister K Rosaiah, S Jaipal Reddy, PCC president D Srinivas and Rajya Sabha member K Kesava Rao. The party is is likely to finalise YSR’s successor only after the concurrence of Jaganmohan and adviser to state government Dr K V P Ramachander Rao.

Jagan as CM? Congress weighs options

NEW DELHI: The political weather in Andhra Pradesh is likely to remain uncertain for a while longer as a wary Congress leadership prepared itself

for a long haul, closely following moves of YSR loyalists running a campaign to make the late leader’s son Jagan Mohan Reddy as CM.

The high command is keen to make an exact assessment of the support for Jagan in the legislature group even as Andhra Pradesh MPs look likely to bring their case to Delhi. Though the leadership expressed its “satisfaction” over the appeal issued by Jagan on Sunday asking his supporters to call off their campaign, the point is likely to be driven home to key YSR loyalists like K V P Ramachandra Rao who has been called to Delhi.

In Hyderabad, ministers seen to be loyal to Jagan met Rao ahead of his departure for Delhi. There were reports of a team of senior leaders being deputed to visit Hyderabad, but senior Congress sources said there were no such plans at present. “Any leader who goes there now will be doing so as a condolence call,” said a central leader.

The high command emphasis remains in allowing the “heated” political situation to calm down. “A big leader has fallen, the emotions will not ebb immediately,” sources said. Congress is likely to take a call on whether to send a delegation to Hyderabad only after a couple of days. There are concerns that a premature move will only spark off renewed lobbying with the central team inundated by representations and demonstrations.

The issue of Jagan’s support among MLAs has figured in discussions held by the party leadership. While the party has almost certainly decided to ignore Jagan for the top post given his lack of experience, what is troubling the managers is the 47 first-time MLAs and 58 Reddys in assembly. The situation looks more precarious when seen in the light that Congress has a meagre majority of seven MLAs.

Congress high command has been thinking hard over the ‘Telugu self-respect’ factor that could come into play if the Jagan-for-CM campaign is not handled sensitively. This is even as as functionary said, “No leadership would agree to work under pressure.”

If numbers are a worry, MPs are now arriving in Delhi. Sources said they have even begun to seek appointments with Congress chief Sonia Gandhi to push their case. A close YSR aide and MP Arun Kumar met the party chief on Monday.

Another MP Keshav Rao also met her and is understood to have conveyed his disapproval of the boisterous campaign.
While it is felt that Jagan is unlikely to defy a central decision on YSR’s successor, it is realised that his sulking would spoil the balance Congress achieved during YSR regime. This means that Jagan’s wishes would have to be taken into account on a successor even if he is to be overlooked and this means likely accommodation of the Reddy lobby.

A day after Jagan’s appeal to his supporters to leave the leadership issue to Sonia, Congress brass is learnt to have got fresh feedback from ground zero. The immediate query revolves around how many MLAs are with YSR’s son. At the same time, the reasons for their loyalty are also being looked into for working on them.

Sources said the prevailing mood in state may push the leadership to settle for an MLA instead of sending someone from Delhi. The party worries are two-fold. While there is a confidence that Jagan can be brought around, there is a fear that any instability could immediately put the party on the defensive, making it vulnerable to brinkmanship. The party will use its powers of persuasion to win over Jagan, arguing that his long-term interests lie in accepting a lesser job than CM, perhaps at the Centre. The party is aware that it must tread carefully in the post-YSR landscape with a N Chandrababu Naidu seeing a glimmer of hope. This leaves the possibility of a neutral Rosaiah continuing for longer than an interim arrangement.

The task of reading the situation on ground and gravitating MLAs towards an acceptable name may fall on veteran Pranab Mukherjee. Veerappa Moily, AICC incharge of state, and Digvijay Singh, who handled it as general secretary before Moily, are likely to play a role too.

Digvijay Singh, who was in Hyderabad on Sunday to offer his condolences to the YSR family, it is learnt, sought to impress upon Jagan the need for patience. He reportedly returned to Delhi with the impression that the ‘self-respect’ factor could snowball. He met Sonia on Monday.

YSR's son in UPA Cabinet?

HYDERABAD : While the path seems to be clear for Y S Rajasekhar Reddy’s lone son Y S Jaganmohan Reddy (Jagan), 36, the Lok Sabha MP from Kadapa, to take over as the new chief minister, it may not happen so. If indications from the Congress are to be believed, the party leadership would prefer the young politician as a minister in the Union Cabinet.

However, as many as 35 ministers handed a letter to Sonia Gandhi in Hyderabad on Friday morning , requesting her to make Jagan, an industrialist, the CM.

“It is good if they propose Jagan as the chief minister. He is young and dynamic. However, the decision has to be taken by the Congress Legislature Party” , said Union Law Minister Veerappa Moily, who is in charge of AP Congress affairs.

JAGAN WAS BEING GROOMED TO BE CHIEF MINISTER

Jagan is non-controversial , young, and was being groomed as the future chief minister by his father for the last two years or so.

“He can better understand his father’s ideals and line of thinking” , said Congress MP Lagadapati Rajagopal.
K Rosaiah, who took oath as interim CM on Thursday said, “I just obeyed the party high command to be interim chief minister. I will wait for the regular CM to take over” .

Pradesh Congress Committee chief D Srinivas said, “This is not the time to think of the next chief minister. The party has several eligible people including many seniors . Our party high command will soon take a decision on that.”

Congress insiders also point out that preference of anybody other than Jagan would only mean allowing the party to divide into groups again, to the advantage of the opposition Telugu Desam.

But the view of the high command seems different. It will be difficult for the young politician to face the politics of stalwarts. “The view is Jagan needs training and exposure before being vested with the responsibility of chief minister ,” sources say. Rosaiah is a noncontroversial Congress loyalist. But, his Delhi contacts are limited. “Here, Jagan will bridge the gap, while paving his way for growth” , the sources said.

However, Jagan said, “We need to be brave at this moment. Our primary objective is to take the welfare schemes initiated by the former CM forward. People and their welfare was close to YSR’s heart.”
